Don't be fooled.  This creepy painting is about hope.

I made a bunch of sketches of it when I was feeling low and needed to inspire myself to keep going.  At that time, it felt like I kept losing at everything I did...my job....my relationships....my health.  It was like my feet weren't going to hold me up much longer (just like in this painting).  I wondered if my legs would give out next.

I painted the pain and the self-doubt.   I painted the desperation and loneliness.  For months, I worked on this painting.  Before finishing it, I realized this creepy painting was more than the scary dogs chasing the little girl.  It was about keeping the hope alive.

You keep moving, you keep trying until you've finally make it to a clearing and you've escaped.  You've left them behind.

That's why she has a flower in her hand.  It's what she was holding on to when she had nothing else to believe in.  Don't be fooled; it's about hope.  Do you see it?  Has hope kept you going during your most difficult times too?  I made it through all those challenges and now I know I can out-run the hounds of hell.  I'm sure you can too.
