I have good news! I just got accepted into this Grimm's Fairy Tale Art Show. It's my first art show in Portland, Oregon since I moved here over 2 years ago. I wasn't looking for exhibitions to show my art, but a friend of a friend was curating a fairy tale art show and thought my dark fairytale art would be perfect in it. Yeah, I needed a nudge. But I almost didn't get in. Below, you can see me in a video when I thought I had missed the deadline for submission.
There was a misunderstanding as I explain in the video. I thought you could submit a sketch, so I did that the night before the submission deadline. But the curator replied that they needed a fully finished art piece.
When I said that was all I had, she asked if I could get it done in a week. I said I'd try. I was so happy that she extended the deadline. The next day, she sent out another message to everyone in which she extended the deadline 2 weeks. I was thrilled to received this news.
I need that time to paint. I am not a quick painter. It takes me a long time to work through everything and to get the details just right.
In my next post, I'll take you through the whole process of my painting and tell you which Grimm's Fairy Tale I chose to paint.
